The Opera Anna Bolena

The Opera Anna Bolena is the work of Gaetano Donizetti and an Italian Libretto by Felice Romani. It was premiered in the Millan Carcano Theatre in 1830. Since then it has been one of the most represented in the world.

The Opera consists of two acts which, in turn, is divided into three different scenes. The argument is based on the story of the marriage of King Enrico VIII and Anna Bolena, his second wife. Anna Bolenna had married three years earlier with the King for the interest in the Crown. The King in love with the Lady Giovanna Seymour establishes contacts with the Court of Lord Percy, former lover of the Queen, to provoke a situation embarasoza with which to accuse his wife of infidelity.
