CaixaForum Sevilla, located in the Isla de la Cartuja in the resort of Torre Sevilla, will be a space dedicated to business, leisure and culture, with more than 7,000 square meters, it is expected to become one of the museum spaces most important nationally. And even, will also be the largest CaixaForum, after Madrid and Barcelona.
The Sevillian architect Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra has been selected to adapt the resort of Torre Sevilla to the project of la Caixa Social Work. This space will house two exhibition halls and an auditorium on the lower floor, and a business center and restaurants on the first floor, and a public square covered by a canopy. This project keeps in mind at all times the enhancement of natural light, thanks to a skylight that allows natural light to reach the lower levels.
CaixaForum is a place created to host all kinds of social and cultural events, from art exhibitions, scientific subject, photography, visual arts, etc .; with the aim of promoting knowledge, and bring art, music and humanities to society.
Two unique collections for the inauguration
La Caixa Social Work will present two unique collections for the opening of CaixaForum Sevilla: Collection la Caixa of Contemporary Art and the Collection la Caixa Anglada-Camarasa.
In the Collection la Caixa of Contemporary Art we find works of the most important artists of the last thirty years. Entitled Look at me! This collection will focus on the portrait, and explore the human representation and identity from different disciplines such as photography, painting, sculpture, etc.
The Anglada-Camarasa la Caixa collection will show 328 works by Hermen Anglada-Camarasa, based on landscapes of Paris, folkloric Spain and Mallorca, also includes 194 personal objects of the artist. Anglada-Camarasa was regarded in Europe as one of the leading painters of the early twentieth century.
CaixaForum, a top level cultural Project that undoubtedly will bring tremendous benefit to Seville and its citizens.
