Blog Christmas activities in the Real Alcazar

The Patronato del Real Alcázar has designed this year Christmas activities in the Real Alcázar aimed at families and children.

In the Patio de Banderas, the kings Carlos I, Isabel the Catholic and Al-Mutamid will receive the little ones in the Apeadero to collect their letters addressed to the Magi of the East. Access will be free. The hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from December 26 to 31, and from January 2 to 4.

The orange tree of New Year’s wishes of the Real Alcázar

From 12 to 22 December do not forget to place your New Year's wish in the orange trees of the Real Alcázar. The initiative intends that all Sevillian people decorates the orange trees with his wishes for next year and Christmas ornaments. Access will be through the Puerta del León. Free entrance. For schools is requested to make reservation prior to actividades@patronato-alcazarsevilla.es, and access will be through the Puerta de la Alcoba.

Within the multitude of animals that inhabit the Alcázar, the peacocks and the fishes of the Pond of Mercury have been chosen as protagonists. Visits can be made with children accompanied by adults to the fishes and peacocks, and they can also participate in a game where they should look for these species in the arch of the peacocks and the tapestry Bacarisas. Activity for children between 6 and 12 years old, access will be free, but prior booking is required and with a maximum of 20 people in each group. From 22 to 30 December, and from 2 to 5 January, in two shifts each day, the first at 11:00 p.m., and the second at 12:00 p.m.

Guided tours of solidarity

There will be free guided tours to the monument promoted by the official guides of the city, only a voluntary financial contribution is required, regardless of the amount, which will go to the Food Bank of Seville. It will be on December 4, 11 and 18 at 11:00 a.m. and at 12:15 a.m.

The restorers themselves who worked in the Alcázar will become guides to show the restoration works executed by them in the palace complex. Reservation required prior. Access will be through the Apeadero (Patio de Banderas).

Finally, activities will be organized to promote awareness of the Real Alcázar among children between the ages of 6 and 12. Although the hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., there will also be a babysitting service from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., for this you must indicate it in the reservation. Each group will consist of a maximum of 30 children. Prior reservation is required, the opening hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:15 p.m., and the departure time from 1:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. In case of having requested the babysitting service, the access will be from 8:00 to 8:15 hours, and the departure from 14:45 to 15:00 hours.

With these activities it is tried to make known the Real Alcázar to the sevillanos, to foment the conservation of the patrimony, and to divulge the works of conservation and restoration of this monument.
