Corpus Christi in Seville 2014Once a year, the Corpus Christi is celebrated in Seville. Its celebration does not have a fixed date, but every year is a different day. This year is celebrated on 19th June. A procession begins its itinerary at 08:30 am from San Miguel Gate, in the Cathedral. For the occasion, the streets are filled with rosemary and other aromatic herbs. The most remarkable element of the procession is the Custody, which is tilled by Juan de Arfe in 1587, and later modified by Juan de Segura in 1668, architectural work made of silver.

Other processions accompanying the Custody in its itinerary. They are: Procession of Santa Justa and Santa Rufina, Procession of San Isidoro, Procession of San Leandro, Procession of San Fernando, Procession of the Immaculate Conception and the Procession of the Child Jesus. During the procession and the seven days later, one of the oldest and peculiar traditions happens in the city: dancing and singing of the Seises before the Blessed. This tradition dates from the fifteenth century.
