Blog Culture at the Hospital de la Santa Caridad of Seville

In the Hospital of Charity of Seville throughout the summer and until October 31, we will have the opportunity to enjoy up to 59 cultural performances between theater and music.

Already in the sixteenth century music and theater in charity hospitals was combined, because both artists and as charity subsisted thanks to the patronage of the most powerful families. This was the beginning of the professionalization of the theater in Spain, as from the popularity that was taking these representations, the artists worked in exchange for a share of the box office receipts.

Zarzuela, opera, poetry, classical and contemporary theater, everything is possible in this space as unique as the Hospital de la Santa Caridad, which undoubtedly will enjoy a pleasant evening.

All shows start at 21:45 h. and from September 18 at 21:00 h. a single price of 10 €.

Artists like South Wind Theater, the Association Alvarez Quintero, Al Alba Theatre and Lyric Opera Company of Seville, Peter Cousins ​​Company, among others, are the participants of this event in the XII Cycle palaces and convents of Seville.
