DER KÖNIG KANDAULES IN SEVILLE IN JUNE 2016.
The premiere in Spain of Alexander von Zemlinsky opera DER KÖNIG KANDAULES (The king Candaulo) arrives at the teatro Maestranza de Sevilla.
The play, which mixes morality, the thirst for power, the crisis and the search for identity, close the operatic cycle this season. The director Pedro Halffter will be at the forefront of the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla.
The play is an opera in three acts with music by Alexander von Zemlinsky based piece King Candaulo of André Gide, translated by Franz Blei. Although von Zemlinsky left the work unfinished, was his biographer and composer Anthony Beaumont who completed it years later.
There will be only three functions: the 20th, 22 and the last on June 24, all of them will start at 20.30 hours.
