Exhibition Joselito and Belmonte in Seville
The Area Santa Clara (Becas Street s/n) will host until November 16th the exhibition "Joselito and Belmonte, a complementary revolution".
This exhibition pays tribute to the two great figures who gave name to the Golden Age of bullfighting. The exhibition is composed of documents, photographs, sculptures, paintings and belongings of both bullfighters. A total of 132 pieces are exhibited.
The City Council has clarified that this exhibition is the best tribute that the city can give to these Sevillian bullfighters, both the best of the period.
The exhibition can be visited until next November 16 and works of Zuloaga, Martinez de Leon, Roberto Domingo, Luis Sanguino, Benlliure or Ruano Llopis, among other artists, are exposed. It also has pieces loaned by institutions like the Real Maestranza de Seville, Military Museum of Seville, Zuloaga Museum, City Council of Valencia, and the Confraternities of the Macarena, Esperanza de Triana or El Cachorro, and a long list of individuals, including the private collections of the descendants of both bullfighters. Also noteworthy bullfighting objects of both bullfighters as monteras, rapiers, cloaks walk, etc...
One of the most impressive rooms is dedicated to the deaths of both bullfighters with photographs of Serrano, Gelan and Sanchez de Pando, where you can see the arrival of the coffin of Belmonte to the bullring in Seville, or the arrival of the coffin of Joselito to the station Plaza de Armas.
At the end of this room, the two "jewels" of the exhibition: the waistcoat that Joselito wore in Talavera de la Reina, and the small handgun "Luger" with which Belmonte ended his life.
The exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm, and Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm.
