Blog Feria de Abril

Soon we will enjoy the Feria de Abril 2015, one of the largest festivals of Seville. This year will be held from 21 to 26 April, where as every year will bring singing, dancing, fun and joy in the Real de la Feria. The Feria was held for the first time in the mid-nineteenth century, was born as a cattle fair, where traders met annually for their commercial transactions. Gradually it acquired the form in which we know it today thanks to the festive atmosphere that existed in this fair, settling stands not only for cattle but also for leisure and fun, plus kiosks of sweet fritters, nougats, taverns, are beginning to decorate the stands, and in 1864 the first fireworks were launched.

In the beginning, it was held at the Prado de San Sebastián, but over time the space was insufficient due to the dimensions that was acquiring the event, so in 1973 it was decided to install the fair in Los Remedios quarter, called Real de la Feria, ornated of thousands of lanterns and lights. In addition to the territory occupied by the booths, with its portico as entrance to Fair territory, it is also Calle del Infierno, area reserved for attractions (the ferris wheel, roller coaster, the castle of terror ...) and nougat stalls , cotton candy, waffles, raffles, ... Coinciding with the Fair, bullfights are held in the Plaza de la Maestranza, resulting in those days the best poster of the season. The Fair will have guaranteed fun, you can enjoy a carriage ride through the Real de la Feria, food, beverage such as manzanilla, fino or the famous Rebujito; dancing and singing from morning till dawn, watch the parade of women and girls dressed in different and original flamenco dresses, and finish the day taking breakfast with the typical chocolate con churros.
