The six paintings by Murillo from the Museo del Prado in Madrid that will be presented in Seville
The paintings that will be exhibited in Seville are the following
The Good Shepherd (1660): it is the most emblematic work, since it caused much furor in the Andalusian and Sevillian society of the 17th century.
The dissipation of the prodigal son (1660-1665): is inspired by the parable of the prodigal son. It is one of the works where Murillo reflected more imagination.
The martyrdom of San Andrés (1675-1682): it is a dramatic representation. The lighting and color used in the canvas create a feeling of poor clarity, so it was described as vaporous style.
La Inmaculada del Escorial (1660-1665): Murillo wanted to spread the image of the Immaculate Conception, creating this picture full of emotion, reflecting all the glory of the Virgin by mixing Concepcion and Asunción.
The Annunciation (1660): for this picture the representation of many everyday objects was used, thus capturing the dignity of domestic work. Some of the objects that appear in the painting are: a basket with sewing tools, an open book and the table with a rug.
San Diego de Alcalá feeding the poor (1645-1646): this painting represents the youth, Murillo got a lot of respect and admiration thanks to this work, which also traveled previously to Seville in 2009.
