Santa Ana Velá 2016 Santa Ana Velá 2016

Santa Ana Velá 2016From 21 to July 26 will be held the Santa Ana Velá 2016 in the Triana quarter, where we will enjoy six days full of fun, tradition and religion.

Santa Ana Velá has its origin in the procession that was made from the late thirteenth century to the parish of Santa Ana in honor of the virgin. Around this religious festival its festive character emerges.

Triana Velá 2016

Triana quarter is adorned these days with lights and lanterns, and a façade on the Isabel II bridge, also known as Triana bridge, who will welcome us. In addition, booths will be installed along the famous Betis street, where we enjoy the cuisine in these cases, such as sardines and fried fish. There will also be music, dancing and singing through performances and competitions that take place in the Plaza del Altozano.

We can not forget the traditional cucaña contest, which installed a boat on the river Guadalquivir with a horizontal pole smeared with grease and a pennant to the end of the post. The game consists of walking on the pole to catch the flag without falling into the river.

From the fun of this celebration we turn to the religious side, with offerings and cult to the Virgin in the parish of Santa Ana.

The Santa Ana Velá or Triana Velá ends with a fireworks display at midnight along the river, which put the finishing touch to this traditional and unique festival.
