Blog Velá of Santa Ana in Triana 2017

The traditional Velá de Santa Ana will be held from 21 to 26 July 2017 in the popular quarter of Triana (Seville).

As every year, the Triana district celebrates its patron, coinciding with the name of Santiago July 25th and Santa Ana on 26 July.

Velá of Triana 2017 

Velá of Santa Ana is celebrated in the popular Triana district since the end of the 13th century. In its origins it was a procession that was celebrated in the parish of Santa Ana, hence comes its name. Today it is a popular festival which offers different activities.

-Fishing contests

-Canoeing races

"The greasy pole" contest:

On a boat anchored in the Guadalquivir is placed a greased pole in horizontal position whereby participants must travel by making a career and achieve a flag located at the end for subsequently falling into the water.

Potters market

Evening performances: different musical performances are scheduled.

The streets are decorated with lanterns and there are booths where attendees can enjoy the local cuisine.
